In the past years we have integrated quite a lot of filters and tools in DIAMANT-Film Restoration which are important to also fix video related issues. So the standard DIAMANT-Film Restoratin SUITE contains already a lot of video related filters & tools.
A very demanding defect within videos are drop-outs. As the general term dropout contains a wide variety of different defects. To cover most of them we have several different filters & tools to handle that kind of problems.
In general all DIAMANT-Film filters and tools can be principally applied on videos. However, the interlaced structure of video implies some specifics that need to be respected.
As most DIAMANT-Film filters have been developed for progressive image contents, interlaced video material could be generally processed if their video fields are separated.
The FielSplit Filter allows to separate and re-merge video fields. As such, a field separated clip can be treated the same way as a progressive film. This is useful if restoration filters such as DUST, REPAIR, OMNICLEAN shall be used and the interlacing structure has to be preserved.
Another possibility to handle interlacing effects is the DInterlace Filter. This filter does, as indicated by its name, detect interlacing in the single images and applies a de-interlacing algorithm to turn the clip into progressive.
Also some tools like Interpolate have a field aware ROI, which allows to apply the tool only to one field instead the full frame.
So far, there are no generic tools inside DIAMANT-Film to correct mixed field order and remove pull-downs. For such tasks, we have integrated an external option, coming from Cinnafilm, which is called Tachyon©.
This options can be purchased separately from us as plug-in for the DIAMANT-Film Restoration SUITE.
