RestoreNet

RestoreNet - Public, interactive and collaborative film restoration

RestoreNet is an extension of our well known DIAMANT-Film Restoration System.
Content owners can share their restoration projects with a wider community to collect some advise and support for their digital restoration projects.

  • The RestoreNet server offers inside the project the movie sequences to be restored in a preview-resolution for download to the community.
  • Based on the preview-resolution the community player can use the free software "RestoreNet Client" to make comments and proposals for digital restoration.
  • After completion, the comments are uploaded to the RestoreNet server, where the central operator uses the comments in a Quality-control session and applies it on the high-res film data.
This site is just a sample and reference to demonstrate the potential of the democratic and public approach of RestoreNet. The first institution that decided to implement RestoreNet functionality on their servers is the polish Filmoteka Naradowa Filmoteka Narodowa.
RestoreNet has been made possible by support of the Austrian research funds of FFG.
